Charina Palomares Garcia represents and counsels companies and individuals on both employment and family-based immigration matters. Ms. Garcia develops practical and business solutions for a variety of employment immigration situations, and has advised companies with regard to the following non-immigrant visas: E (investor visa), H-1B (professional working visa), H-2B (temporary working visas), L-1 (inter-company transferee visa), and TN (Canadian and Mexican professional working visa). She has also advised companies with regard to the following immigrant visas: labor certification (PERM), outstanding researcher, inter-company transferee and investor visa. For individuals, Ms. Garcia advises on non-immigrant visa applications, including F-1 (student visa), J-1 (trainee visa), and B-1/B-2 (tourist visa), and on family based immigration applications including adjustment of status, consular processing, relative visa petition, fiancé petition, K-3 visa, waiver application and naturalization. Ms. Garcia earned a J.D. from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. While attending the University of Washington, she argued successfully before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and participated in the Refugee and Immigrant Advocacy Clinic. Ms. Garcia completed her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley earning a major in Economics and a minor in Asian-American Studies. Ms. Garcia is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association ("AILA") and the American Bar Association. She has served on the Executive Board of the Northern California Chapter of AILA, and was the Liaison for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service's California Service Center. Ms. Garcia has been a speaker at national American Immigration Lawyers Association ("AILA") conferences and also a panel speaker at the regional conference of the National Association for Foreign Student Advisors ("NAFSA"). In addition, Ms. Garcia has served on the Board of Directors for Filipinos for Affirmative Action ("FAA"), the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California, Asians for Job Opportunities, and the English Language Institute of the Bay Area. Ms. Garcia is also a member of the faculty of Sterling Education Services and Lorman Education Services, which provides continuing education seminars and has edited publications for the Continuing Education for the Bar.
