Mr. Roemer's law practice has focused exclusively on immigration and nationality law, with an emphasis on employment-based visas. He is the update author for the popular immigration reference works, U.S. Immigration Made Easy and How to Get a Green Card (Nolo Press, 1998). Mr. Roemer is active as a pro bono supervising attorney and mentor with the San Francisco Lawyer's Committee for Civil Rightsrepresenting asylum applicants and mentoring volunteer attorneys in immigration litigation before the Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, for which he received the Wiley P. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services from the State Bar of California. Mr. Roemer addresses immigration matters at forums such as the Australian-American Chamber of Commerce, and the International Diplomacy Council.
Mr. Roemer is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) and has served as AILA's Liaison to the San Francisco INS Asylum Office. From  2006-2013, Mr. Roemer was chosen every year as one of Northern California's "Super Lawyers" by his peers in the field of immigration law.
